What is a Neurotoxin? Botox, Xeomin and Dysport.

Neurotoxins work by relaxing the muscles that cause wrinkles, which are caused by repeated movements and muscle contractions from frowning, squinting, or raising your eyebrows. Once injected into the treatment area(s), neurotoxin temporarily blocks the muscle contractions, allowing lines and creases in the skin to smooth out.

Choosing the Best Treatment.

BOTOX®, Dysport® and XEOMIN® all contain the same active ingredient, botulinum toxin type A. They all work similarly and last about the same length of time. Your injector will recommend the best product based on the areas being treated and the goals of your personalized treatment plan.

What to Expect During Your Treatment.

On the day of your treatment, you will meet with our Registered Nurse to discuss your specific cosmetic concerns. After being cleared by a Medical Provider, a treatment plan will be determined. The neurotoxin is then injected using a fine needle, causing minimal discomfort and bruising. Treatment typically takes about 15 to 30 minutes and requires minimal downtime, so you can return to your daily routine immediately after your appointment.

Post-Treatment Care.

While neurotoxin injections require no recovery time, we recommend avoiding exercise, drinking alcohol, and rubbing the treated areas for 24 hours. Additionally, refrain from any cosmetic treatments for two weeks.

How Long Does it Take to See Results?

Neurotoxin results are typically noticeable within 3 to 7 days after treatment, with full effects seen within 14 days. However, individual experiences may vary depending on the area treated, the amount of neurotoxin used, and your personal response to the injection.

How Long Does Botox Last?

Results typically last 2 to 4 months before wrinkles gradually reappear. It is recommended to schedule another treatment as soon as you notice slight movement in the treated areas.

Are There Any Side Effects?

Neurotoxin treatments are generally safe when performed by a trained, experienced practitioner. Side effects are temporary and commonly include tenderness, bruising at the injection site, and occasionally, a headache.
